BackgroundNeonatal herpes simplex virus (HSV) is a rare disease associated with high mortality and morbidity rates. HSV infection can be subdivided into 3 clinical manifestations: isolated skin, eye and mouth (SEM) disease, central nervous system (CNS) disease and disseminated disease.
