Abstract

We read with considerable interest the paper by Hilsabeck et al. (2010), who concluded that “patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC) with immune responses characterized by elevated interferon (IFN)-α may be at risk for cognitive difficulties; in patients with detectable IFN-α, higher levels of interleukin (IL)-6 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α were related to poorer cognitive functioning”.
