1IntroductionParoxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is an acquired disease occurring due to a somatic mutation in hemopoietic stem cells resulting in reduced expression or absence of glycophosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchored proteins on blood cells including the GPI-linked complement inhibitors CD55 and CD59.
