The standard treatment for ovarian cancer is typically surgery and platinum-based therapy. Bevacizumab binds to a receptor for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which is often expressed by ovarian tumor cells. Decreased VEGF expression is associated with reduced tumor vascularization and prolonged survival.
