The incidence of cervical cancer is relatively low, and although screening for it via conventional cytology has reduced both incidence and mortality rate, the test sensitivity is imperfect and the test itself is labor intensive. Use of liquid-based cytology (LBC) and human papillomavirus (HPV) testing in lieu of conventional cytology or as adjunct screening was investigated by Whitlock et al as part of systematic review to update a US Preventive Services Taskforce 2003 recommendation.The 2003 Taskforce...
