Risk of Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Myelodysplastic Syndromes After Multiple Myeloma and Its Precursor Disease (MGUS)

Abstract

This Swedish, population-based study looked at the risk of developing AML/myelodysplastic syndromes in patients with plasma cell dyscrasias, determining that, although treatment-related factors play an etiologic role, non–treatment related factors, particularly IgG/IgA MGUS, particularly with M-protein concentrations are >1.5 g/dL, also are involved.
