Orthotopic reconstruction offers the most natural voiding pattern after radical cystecomty, allowing voluntary micturition through the intact native urethra. Several pathologic reviews have demonstrated that with careful selection of appropriate patients, a portion of the female urethra can be preserved for orthotopic reconstruction.
