Exelixis' Cabozantinib Targets Particularly Sick Thyroid Cancer Patients

Abstract

Strong efficacy in a particularly sick patient population could help differentiate Exelixis' Phase III medullary thyroid cancer candidate cabozantinib from the only FDA-approved drug for this rare disease - AstraZeneca's Caprelsa, the company suggested during an Oct. 27 earnings call. Medullary thyroid cancer is a small market, with an estimated 1,300 to 2,200 new cases in the U.S. each year.
