Low-Dose IL-2 Safe, Effective in Active Chronic GVHD

Daily low-dose interleukin-2 immunotherapy was found safe in 28 patients with active chronic graft versus host disease, and 15 of them responded to treatment, according to a report in the Dec. 1 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.The immunotherapy allowed the marked reduction of glucocorticoid doses in these patients who had undergone allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for the treatment of lymphomas and leukemias, said Dr. John Koreth of the division of hematologic malignancies...
