Oncologists Embrace BRAF Testing, Coast Through Managed Care With New Melanoma Drugs

Two groundbreaking treatments for metastatic melanoma are undergoing rapid adoption by oncologists, despite initial concerns over their high cost and the inclusion of a companion diagnostic for one of the drugs, according to a new survey. Yervoy (ipilimumab), Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.’s new melanoma treatment, had been prescribed by 79% of oncologists after six months on the market, and Roche’s Zelboraf (vemurafenib) had been prescribed by 58% of respondents six weeks post-launch, according to a survey...
