Adjuvant AIs vs Tamoxifen

(00:03:58) Elsevier Global Medical News, 2008 Dec 11, K Wachter

Dr. James Ingle is Professor of Oncology and Director, Breast Cancer Program, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.

Adjuvant treatment with aromatase inhibitors (AIs) significantly lowers recurrence risk in postmenopausal women with ER+ breast cancer, compared with tamoxifen, according to results of 2 meta-analyses presented by Dr. Ingle at SABCS 2008. AIs decreased recurrence regardless of whether they were used as initial monotherapy or after several years of tamoxifen.
