Abstract

"Ask the Expert” features answers by our experts to your clinical questions. Question: The patient is a 23-year-old male who presented with rectal bleeding. Colonoscopy revealed a rectal mass and the colon was studded with polyps. Total colectomy with ileo-anal anastomosis was performed. Pathology showed a 5 x 6 cm T2N0 rectal mass, with no peri-rectal tumor infiltration. The appearance of the colon was consistent with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).
