The TAX 324 trial was an important study that re-emphasised induction chemotherapy as a potential management option in locally advanced head and neck cancer. Noteworthy is that the overall and progression-free survival advantages of docetaxel, cisplatin, and fluorouracil (TPF) compared with cisplatin and fluorouracil (PF) are sustained with further follow-up.
